Fantasy world is so much more that simple characters. I hate that some people here are judging and automatically assume you have some kind of problem. What we usually fall in love with in fantasy are characters, plot and environment. Characters have what we need and we want to befriend them, we associate the world with positive feelings, the environment helps blow off steam and writers use pathos (emotions) to manipulate us (not necessarily a bad thing).
We like fantasy because it gives us freedom. You get the chance to fly with dragons, march with dwarfs, cast spells with mages and save the day. How can the “real” world compete with any of that? It would be false to assume that reality ends when you engage with fantasy. Reality is your world, however you make it.
