Good morning, honorable judges, erudite guests, teachers and my friends. I am _________ from class XI and I deem it a privilege to present my views on the motion 'Women Empowerment'. I strongly feel that there is no need of this term even in the present scenario. Today human race is surging forward and it couldn't have happened if women had not shouldered equal responsibility.
My worthy opponent cited examples of atrocities towards women and demanded women empowerment. Could I ask them that are there no mal-practices of man towards men? There are, then shall we cry for men emancipation in that case. Today, in India, when women like P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik have brought laurels to the country, where does the question of their empowerment arise?
I would like to focus on the point that if ever we need emancipation, we need it for the unprivileged, we need it for differently able and we need it for hundreds and thousands of children whose childhood is lost working for hours, bereft of the basic need of education.
The term 'women emancipation' had its roots in the west where women had no right to vote and they struggled to get the right. Here in India, whether we look at the struggle for freedom or formation of the government, women have always played an equal role and with the changing paradigm, women are the proud CEO, entrepreneurs, scientists, authors, astronauts, and part of the government.
So, I request my audience to not to give such a hype to this stereotype thought and eliminating such prejudices, they should join hands in making India a strong nation where freedom, development, strength become our forte and we can stand up to the world to realize the dreams of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
