                                    Grading System Boon Or Bane

Everything has its positives and negatives. Similarly, Grading System has its own pros and cons.

Unequivocally, continuous and comprehensive assessment or grading system is the real and scientifically better assessment. It is progressive and more student centric than the orthodox evaluation. CCE (continuous and comprehensive evaluation) Pattern has descended as a boon to students’ years of prayers. It has reduced the burden of studies from the mind of the students. Earlier the students had to memorize the entire year’s syllabus of all the subjects, making it really very hard for students. However, the CCE educational reforms have freed them of this burden. They have made the learning fun and exciting. The most important aspect of these reforms is they have made the education free of cut-throat competitiveness.

However, there are a few downsides of the CCE also. Highly competitive teachers are required to implement CCE. Incompetent teachers might undermine the objectives of learning by doing corrupt practices such as giving fake marks for FA activities. Students may become complacent!

The Term Examination Evaluation has been in use in India for many decades. Though it has its disadvantages such as stress on children’s mind, predominance of theory, etc., however, it has many advantages also. The vastness of syllabus and the educational stress indirectly have wholesome effect on learning process.

In conclusion it can be said a combination of both the regimes is required for the healthy and holistic development of children.
