According to the 1976 amendment of the Indian Constitution, India is a secular state. The concept "Unity in Diversity" is celebrated only when religion is kept separated from politics. The sole reason why it should be done is because Indian government is democratic and India has so many races with various religions. If religion gets into politics there would be chaos and violence everywhere. Religion was invented to keep people together but somehow its main aim got mutilated by several wicked intentions. It can actually harm the peace and quiet of our nation.
For example, the crack in the brotherhood of Indian citizens was a result of mixing religion and politics together. This was one of many reasons why India got divided into three nations (Pakistan and Bangladesh being the two other nations).
