Debbie was doing a science lab, and she was instructed to decide whether a piece of plastic would float or sink without actually putting the plastic in the water. How could she do this?

Bio-plastics plastics refer to bio-degradable plastics. Rather than petroleum these are derived from natural substances. However, they are very expensive to be bought. They can be derived from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, or microbiota. The scientists are still trying to make them cheaper by doing experiments continuously.

Answer:

(A) Find the density of the plastic and compare it to the density of water.

Explanation:

If the piece of plastic is less dense than water, it will float. So, Debbie can measure both the mass and volume of the plastic to find its density and compare it to the density of water.

Hope this helped!! <3
