Decentralisation of power means taking the power of central government and giving it to local government . It is essential in democracy as :

• Local government and local people have better idea of the problems faced by them .

• They know better where to use money for development and where they don't have any requirements of spending money .

Eg : Sewage problem in an area .

• Decentralisation will also help in distribution of power (as all power will not lie in hand of 1 person I.e. central government)
