- Decomposition is the break down of dead animals and plants. If there were no decomposers in a food chain, the dead remains of plants of animals will not rot and simply lie on earth surface.

- If there were no decomposers, there will be no renewel processes and once a natural resource is consumed, it will be extincted.

- When decomposers break down dead plants and animals, into simpler units which later on absorbed by soil and increases the fertility. Now imagine if there were no decomposers, the soil fertility would have been effected as well.
