It is well known that potassium chloratedecomposes at a higher temperature to give potassium chloride and oxygen. It melts at 355 °C and decomposes at 480 °C (Fig. 1). To reduce thedecomposition temperature, manganese dioxide is the standard catalyst. The search for more efficient and cheap catalyst is on.
