Decomposition reactions are those reactions in which reactants decompose into other compounds.Or we can also say that it is a type of reaction of breaking up of a compound either into elements or simpler compounds,such that they do not recombine to form the original compound.


For eg-

2HgO----->2Hg+O2

2H2O---->2H2+O2
