DECOMPOSITION REACTION:

When a compound is broken down into number of compounds.
It may be:

1)Thermal decomposition(where energy is in the form of heat)

2)Photolytic decomposition(where energy is in the form of light)

3)Electrolytic decomposition(where energy is in the form of electricity)

So...examples for thermal:

FeSO4(Green) when heated forms Fe2O3(brown)+SO2+SO3...

Example for photolytic:

2AgBr--2Ag+Cl2
2AgCl--2Ag+Cl2

These salts are also used in black and white photography.

Example for electrolysis:

NaCl--Na+ +Cl-

Here when molten sodium chloride is passed through electricity
then at cathode Sodium is collected and at anode chlorine is
deposited.
