To find:-

The population a years ago = ?

Solution :-

Let the population 1 years ago be x.

Now,

$(x + 10\% \: of \: x) = 1800 \\ ⇒(x + \frac{x}{10} ) = 1800 \\ ⇒ \frac{11x}{10} = 1800 \\ ⇒x = 1800 \times \frac{10}{11} \\ ⇒x = 1,636.36$
