Reflection occurs when waves bounce back from a surface that they cannot pass through. Refraction occurs when waves bend as they enter a new medium at an angle and start traveling at a different speed.

Answer:
when the water waves strikes any flat surface its force and speed decreases and it then moves slowly towards the flat land and after a certain distance and stopes due to the friction created due to water and land and then flows back to the sea .
