 Yes I support his statement because

  1. Cell wall provides strength and rigidity to the plants.
  2. When the plants are watered, cells absorb water and swell .
  • As the cell walls is tough and hard, it prevents excess swelling of the cell.

Hence, without cell wall plants cannot stand erect .
