The cost of the lower priced bangle set is Rs 120

Solution:

Total cost of two bangle set = Rs 600

Let the cost price of 1st bangle set = x

Let the cost price of 2nd bangle set = 600 - x

By selling one bangle set for 4/5 of its cost

Selling\ Price\ of\ first\ set = \frac{4}{5}x

And the other for 5/4 of its cost

Selling\ Price\ of\ second\ set = \frac{5}{4} \times 600- x

She makes a profit of rs. 96 on the whole transaction

Profit = 96

We know that,

Profit = SP - CP

96=\frac{4x}{5} +\frac{5}{4} \times  (600-x)-600\\\\96 = \frac{4x}{5} + 750 - \frac{5x}{4} - 600\\\\\frac{4x}{5} - \frac{5x}{4} = 96 - 750 + 600\\\\\frac{-9x}{20} = -54\\\\x = 54 \times \frac{20}{9}\\\\x = 120

Thus the cost of the lower priced bangle set is Rs 120
