Sometimes the eyes of a person cannot focus the image of an object on the retina properly . In these cases the vision of the person becomes blurred and he cannot see either the distant object or nearby object clearly and comfortably. The person is said to have a defects of vision all defects of eyes.
Myopia is that defect of eyes in which a person is able to see nearby objects but not able to see distant objects clearly.
(1). Due to high converging power of lens.
(2). Due to eye ball being too long.
♦ Myopia is corrected by using spectacles containing concave lenses.
♦ The far point of a myopic eye is less than infinity.
Hypermetropia is that defect of eyes in which a person is able to see distant objects but not able to see nearby objects clearly.
(1). Due to low converging power of lens.
(2). Due to eye ball being too short.
♦ Hypermetropia is corrected by using spectacles containing convex lenses
♦ The near point of a hypermetropic eye is more than 25 centimetres away.
Presbyopia is that with defect of eye due to which an old person cannot see the nearby objects clearly due to lost of power of accommodation of the eye.
♦ Presbyopia is a special kind of hypermetropia, we can call it old age hypermetropia.
