Mcleery was injured and told Superintendent Carter that Evans was in Elsfield Way and they must hurry there. Carter helped Mcleery into the car and drove there , but from there he led them to Headington and later to Newbury. But the Governor and Carter were in for shock because he was not in the hospital and had run away. Actually it was Evans in place of Mcleery.
