️Thermal decomposition is the process of breaking down a chemical compound into simpler substance by heating it. Electrolysis is the process of forcing a chemical reaction that wouldn't normally occur on its own to happen by passing an electric current through the reactants.

→What is a Decomposition reaction ?

=> A reaction in which a single compound breaks down into two or more compounds on the application on heat , light or electricity are called decomposition reactions . The general representation of a Decomposition reaction is :

A -----------------> B + C

Now coming to the question ↓
------------------------------------------

◼Thermal Decomposition Reaction - when the decomposition of a compound takes place by the application of Heat energy , the reaction is termed as a thermal decomposition reaction . Heat supplied is represented by ∆ above the reaction .

◼For Example - Calcium carbonate decomposes into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide on the application of heat.

=> CaCO3 -------------> CaO + CO2

◼Electrolysis is the process when a compound splits into 2 or more compounds on the application of electric current .

◼For Example , the electrolysis of water is shown as follows . Water splits into hydrogen and oxygen on applying current !

=> H2O ---------------> H2 + O2
