- Single layered epidermis with thick cuticle.

- Vascular bundles are of smaller size.

- Phloem parenchyma are present.

- Secondary growth occurs due to formation of lateral meristem.

Monocot stem:

- Vascular bundles are of different sizes.

- Phloem parenchyma are absent.

- Secondary growth is generally absent.

- A protoxylem cavity is present.
