Metals have free electrons due to which it conducts electricity.

Metal oxides are basic in nature.

Non-metals haven't any free electrons except graphite due to which it is an insulator.

Non-metal oxides are acidic in nature.

#REACTION WITH OXYGEN

➡️MOST METALS REACT WITH OXYGEN TO GIVE BASIC OXIDES.

➡️NON-METALS REACT WITH OXYGEN TO GIVE ACIDIC OXIDES.

#REACTION WITH WATER

➡️METALS REACT WITH WATER TO FORM OXIDES OR HYDROXIDES AND HYDROGEN.

➡️NON-METALS DO NOT REACT WITH WATER.

#REACTION WITH ACIDS

➡️METALS REACT WITH DILUTE HYDROCHLORICC AND SULPHURIC ACIDS TO FORM THE CORROSPONDING SALT AND TO LIBERATE HYDROGEN.

➡️NON-METALS DO NOT REACT WITH ACIDS.

#REACTION WITH ACIDS

➡️ONLY FEW METALS LIKE ALUMINIUM , ZINC AND LEAD REACT WITH STRONG BASES SUCH AS SODIUM HYDROXIDE TO RELEASE HYDROGEN.

➡️THE REACTION OF NON-METALS WITH ACIDS IS COMPLEX.
