- Sludge is a solid precipitated material obtained during the treatment of effluents before discharging them into water bodies by the waste water treatment plants
- . Actually the waste water is pumped into oxidation ponds(after removing sediments) where microorganisms oxidise the organic matter releasing Carbon dioxide and the solid precipitated material obtained is sludge.
