Answer:

An aqueous solution is a solution in which the solvent is water. It is mostly shown in chemical equations by appending (aq) to the relevant chemical formula. For example, a solution of table salt, or sodium chloride (NaCl), in water would be represented as Na+(aq) + Cl−(aq). The word aqueous (comes from aqua) means pertaining to, related to, similar to, or dissolved in, water. As water is an excellent solvent and is also naturally abundant, it is a ubiquitous solvent in chemistry. Aqueous solution is water with a pH of 7.0 where the hydrogen ions (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH−) are in Arrhenius balance (10−7).

1 Aqueuos solution

Solutions in which water is the solvent are called aqueous solutions. For example, when sugar is dissolved in water, the solution obtained is called an aqueous solution of sugar.

2.Non-aueous solution

The solutions obtained by dissolving a solute in any solvent other than water are called non aqueous solutions (non acqueous means without water). For example, if a solute is dissolved in any solvent such as benzene, alcohol, ether, carbon, disulphide, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, etc., the solution obtained is called a non aqueous solution.

3.Dilute soultion

A dilute solution is one in which there is a relatively small amount of solute dissolved in the solution.

4.Concentrated solution

A concentrated solution contains a relatively large amount of solute.

5.Saturated solution

A saturated solution contains the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve at that temperature. Any further addition of solute will result in undissolved solid on the bottom of the container.

6.Unsaturted solution

An unsaturated solution contains less than the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at that temperature.

7.Super saturated solution

A supersaturated solution contains more than the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved at that temperature. It is unstable and the solute will usually begin to crystallize, especially if disturbed.
