Discovery of Cell

• Discovery of cell dates back to the year 1635.

• It was discovered by a scientist named Robert Hooke

• While he was observing a rubber cork (dead cells) in his microscope,he came across many compartments they resembled monasteries

• He named these compartments as Cells

Number of Cells

• Number of cells can range from one cell to some zillion cells based on the complexity of organisms

• On the basis of number of cells,organism are divided into Unicellular (one) and Multicellular organisms
