Joule is a unit of energy, kinetic, potential, electric etc. When a force of 1N (Newton),moves a body of mass 1kg, it will produce an acceleration of 1m/s² in the body of mass 1 kg. In case under the action of the force of 1N, the body moves a distance of 1m, in the direction of the force, the work done by force on the body is 1Joule. This energy is kinetic energy.
