1 the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin, and it is now regarded as be the main process that brings about evolution.
2 I won't give a definition but another example would be a volcano erupts and destroys most of the species on an island and most of the individuals of a species. So the unusual things about an individual would be passed onto its descendants but would not be diluted out of the population by what were the normal genes in the population before, and so that becomes common in the population through inbreeding of the remaining individuals. And the remaining species fill in the spots over time that the extinct species had before.
3 The definition of geographic isolation is a group of plants, animals or other living creatures being separated from mixing genes within their same species.
4 : the inability of a species to breed successfully with related species due to geographical, behavioral, physiological, or genetic barriers or differences
