Power is defined as terate of transfer of energy.The unit of power is watt.

Power is defined as rate of doing work.

Power= work done/ time taken

Power = energy consumed/ timetaken

Since when work is done, an equal amount of energy is consumed.

S.I unit of power is Watt.

1 watt= 1 joule/ 1 Second.

1 watt is the power of an appliances which consumes energy at the rate of 1 joule per second.

A body is said to have power of 1 watt if it does work at the rate of 1 joule in 1 s, i.e.,
1W =1J/1S
