Alliteration is a stylistic device in which a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur closely together in a series.

e.g. But a better butter makes a batter better.

laksh4811: the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.
snigdha74: Mhm, the letter or sound that appears in a word, which is most likely to be preceding a vowel is a consonant; which together forms a syllable. Aaaaand consonants with the same sounding letters in a close series of occurrences is an alliteration! Nicely elaborated.
