Cyclic Process :

  • The process is which the initial and final state is the same is known as cyclic process it is a sequence of process. A cyclic process consists of a series of changes which return the system back to its initial state . It is a system of processes that leaves the system in the same state in which it started.

Adiabatic Processes :

  • The change occuring within a system as a result of transfer of energy to or from the system in the form of work energy . It is a process during which there is no transfer of heat from or to the system .A rapid expansion or contraction of gas is very nearly adiabatic.

Isothermal Process :

  • It is a process in which the temperature remains constant but the pressure and volume of a thermodynamic system will change . Boiling of water is an Isothermal process . The temperature of boiling water stays same under constant pressure that is the atmospheric pressure in daily life is constant .

Isobaric Processes :

  • An Isobaric process is a process in which the pressure remains constant . This is usually obtained by allowing the volume to expand or contract in such a way to neutralize any pressure changes that would be caused by heat transfer. However , there is also a change in the internal energy of the system .

Isochoric Processes :

  • Isochoric process is a process in which volume is constant while all other variable changes . As volume is kept constant , therefore no work is done on or by the gas . Heat absorbed by the the gas is completely used to change its internal energy and it's temperature , from firat law of thermodynamics .

Reversible Processes :

  • A reversible process is defined as a process in which the system and surrounding can be returned to the original conditions from the final state without producing any changes in the thermodynamics properties of the universe , if the proces is reversed .

Irreversible Processes :

  • An irreversible processes is defined as the processes in which the system and the surrounding do not return to their original condition once the process is initiated .
