Answer:

Partisanship means a firm adherence to a political party, faction, cause or person. Political parties involve partisanship because they represent and support particular views or policies that would be supported by a part of the society and its interests.

Define a Political party.

In politics, a political party is an organized group of people who have the same ideology, or who otherwise have the same political positions, and who field candidates for elections, in an attempt to get them elected and thereby implement their agenda. Political parties are a defining element of representative democracy.

How do they involve partisanship?

Political parties involve partisanship because-

1. Political parties echo elementary political divisions in a society.

2. Parties are all about a fraction and therefore, involve partisanship.

3. A party is popular for the part it stands for, the policies it supports and the interest it upholds.

What are their components?

A political party has three components, viz. :

(i) The Leaders: Who formulate policies and programs of the party and choose candidates for contesting elections.

(ii) The Active Members: Who are involved in different committees of the party and participate directly in their activity.

(iii) The Followers: Who believe in the party’s ideology and support the party by casting their votes in favor of the party at the time of the election.
