An unbalanced equation which has not an equal atoms in both reactant and products is called a skeletal equation.

we have to balance equation in order to follow law of conservation of mass states that matter cannot be create or destroyed by any chemical reaction . for prove that we have need to balance atoms in both reactants and products.
