There are three main types of volcano - composite or strato, shield and dome. Composite Volcanoes. Composite volcanoes, sometimes known as strato volcanoes, are steep sided cones formed from layers of ash and [lava] flows. The eruptions from these volcanoes may be a pyroclastic flow rather than a flow of lava

A volcano is a vent in the earth's crust through which material erupts suddenly, sometime the opening can be a long cracker which is called fissure.
On the basis of frequency of eruptions, volcanoes are classified into three categories :-
✯Active Volcano
✯Dormant Volcano
✯Extinct Volcano
- Active volcano :- active volcanoes are those volcanoes that have erupted recently.
- Dormant Volcano :- Dormant volcanoes are those volcanoes that have been quiet for a long time but shows some signs that they could erupt again.
- Extinct Volcano :- Extinct volcanoes are those volcanoes which have not erupted for hundred of years.
