The x coordinate of a particular point is known as  the abscissa.
The y coordinate of a particular point is known as the ordinate.

abscissa-the distance from a point to the vertical or y -axis, measured parallel to the horizontal or x -axis; the x -coordinate.

ordinate-a straight line from any point drawn parallel to one coordinate axis and meeting the other, especially a coordinate measured parallel to the vertical.
