Define Absolute error. The masses of two bodies are measured to be 15.7±0.2 Kg and 27.3 ±0.3 kg. What is the

m1 + ∆m1 = 15.7 ± 0.2 kg

m2 + ∆m2 = 27.3 ± 0.3 kg

Total mass on adding two masses is -

M = m1 + m2

M = 15.7 + 27.3

M = 43 kg

Relative error in measurement of total mass will be -

∆M = ∆m1 + ∆m2

∆M = 0.2 + 0.3

∆M = 0.5 kg

Therefore, total mass of two will be 43 ± 0.5 kg.
