Define acceleration and State its SI unit .For motion along a straight do we consider the acceleration is positive or negative​??

Acceleration is defined as Rate of change in Velocity. Its SI unit is m/s^2 (metre per second square ). When the velocity increases in a specific time period ,acc. is considered positive. When the velocity decreases in a specific time period ,acc. is considered negative.

Rate of change in Velocity of a body is said to be the Acceleration of that body.

SI Unit of Acceleration :- m/

For motion along a straight path , we consider Positive Acceleration
