Actinomycetes:
- The actinomycetes are branched filamentous bacteria which form radiating colonies in culture.
- The cellwall contains mycolic acid.
- Most of them are saprophytic and decomposers.
- Some actinomycetous members like Mycobacterium and Corynebacterium are parasites.
- A number of antibodies are produced by actinomycetous members especially the genus Streptomyces.
