Answer:

The passive voice is more common in formal written English .It is often used in newspapers, academic and scientific writing ,and reports ,which attempt to be less personal .Most passive sentences do not have an agent ,as the focus of the sentence is not on the doer of the action but on its recipient.

#A form or set of forms of a verb in which the subject is typically the person or thing performing the action and which can take a direct object . (eg of active ,Sita loves savitri and eg of passive is Savitri is loved by sita)

Voice :

Restructuring of a sentence ( along with the verb- form ) to convey the significance of the

' subject ' or the ' object ' is known as VOICE.

Kinds of voice :

1) ACTIVE VOICE

Used to show the significance of the ' doer ' ( subject) over the ' object'.

E.G., The hen laid eggs.

( In the above example 'The hen' is subject and ' eggs ' is object.)

2) PASSIVE VOICE

Used to show the significance of the ' object' over the ' doer ' (subject) .

E.G., The eggs were laid by the hen .

(In the above sentence ' the eggs ' are object and ' the hen ' is object ) .
