Acute diseases are the diseases that last for short period of time.

Subacute: Rather recent onset or somewhat rapid change. In contrast, acute indicates very sudden onset or rapid change, and chronic indicates indefinite duration or virtually no change.

chronic disease are the diseases that last for long periods of time, even as much as a lifetime.

subchronic. (sŭb″kron′ik) [ sub- + chronic] In human health and disease, of moderate or intermediate duration. The term is imprecise; the period is usually as long as a month but less than 10% of a lifetime.
