Answer: Addition reaction is one in which a molecule gets added to unsaturated compounds to form saturated compounds.

Example: Addition of bromine to alkenes

CH_2=CH_2+Br_2\rightarrow BrCH_2CH_2Br

Industrial application: Hydrogenation of vegetable oils which is used to add hydrogen to oils in the presence of a catalyst to convert them into vegetable ghee.

CH_2=CH_2+H_2\rightarrow CH_3CH_3
