\huge\text{\underline{Aestivation:}}

The mode of arrangement of petals or sepals in a floral bud with respect to the other member of the same whorl is called aestivation.

\text{\underline{It\:may\:be\:of\:following\:types:}}

=> \sf{\underline{Valvate}}

=> \sf{\underline{Twisted}}

=> \sf{\underline{Imbricate}}

=> \sf{\underline{Vexillary}}

\text{\underline{(i)\:Valvate:}}

In valvate aestivation, the margin of sepals or petals, present in a whorl just touch each other.

There is no overlapping between the sepals or petals.

\sf{\underline{Example:}} Calotropis.

\text{\underline{(ii)\:Twisted:}}

In twisted aestivation, margin of one petal or seal overlaps the margin of the adjacent successive petal or separate and so on.

\sf{\underline{Example:}} China rose, lady's finger and cotton.

\text{\underline{(iii)\:Imbricate:}}

In imbricate aestivation, margin of petals or sepals overlaps each other but not in a particular direction.

\sf{\underline{Example:}} Cassia, gulmohur.

\text{\underline{(iv)\:Vexillary:}}

In vexillary aestivation, the largest petal overlaps the two smaller lateral petals which in turn overlap the two smallest anterior petals.

\sf{\underline{Example:}} Pea and bean flower.
