Answer :

The process of growing more and more trees on a piece of land that has no trees or very less number of trees in order to create forest.

On the other hand, deforestation is the process of cutting down trees rapidly for timber and to create space for building shelter.

Sometimes, the term afforestation is confused with reforestation. Reforestation is the process of planting the same species of trees that was cut in order to make sure that the species doesn't extinct.

Afforestation should be promoted more and more for the betterment of environment and life forms.
