Amplitude of wave is defined as maximum "displacement " of the entity oscillating in wave motion. In light wave electric and magnetic field vectors E and B are oscillating. In case of sound waves through material medium the particles of material medium are oscillating.

Wave length is the distance between two consecutive particles ( participating in wave motion)having phase difference of 2.pi.
