An alloy is a mixture of metals or a mixture of a metal and another element.

The majority of alloys are prepared by mixing metals in the molten state; then the mixture is poured into metal or sand moulds and allowed to solidify. Generally the major ingredient is melted first; then the others are added to it and should completely dissolve.

Two advantages of making alloy are-

Alloy s ste made more resistant to corrosion than pure metals.

The colour pure metal can be modified by alloying with other metals.

About <0,15% is the composition of stainless steel.

Because iron exposed to air starts rusting which if used for cooking can cause disease, while stainless steel is a alloy which do not rust and is safe for cooking.

Hope it helped.
