Rational number: All the numbers which can be written in the form of p/q , q not equal to 0 are called rational numbers where p and q are integers.

example:- -2, -3, 0 , 1/2 , -2/7 , 0/2 etc.

Irrational number: A number is called Irrational, if it cannot be written in the form p/q where p and q are integers and q not equal to 0.

Or,

All the numbers which can not be written in the form of p/q, q not equal to 0 are called Irrational number. where p and q are integers.
