★Anabolism

⇝ The reaction consume energy to make complex molecules from simpler ones is called anabolism or anabolic pathway.

⇝ Anabolism is also called constructive metabolism.

Example :- Synthesis of organic compounds from CO₂ and H₂O during photosynthesis.

★Catabolism

⇝ They release energy by breaking down complex molecules to simpler forms. These reactions gain energy by breaking chemical bonds this is called catabolism or catabolic pathways.

⇝ Catabolism is also called destructive metabolism.

Example :- Respiration

Explanation:

Anabolism:-

Anabolism is the set of metabolic pathways that construct molecules from smaller units. These reactions require energy, known also as an endergonic process. Anabolism is the building-up aspect of metabolism, whereas catabolism is the breaking-down aspect.

Catabolism:-

Catabolism, the sequences of enzyme-catalyzed reactions by which relatively large molecules in living cells are broken down, or degraded. ... Part of the chemical energy released during catabolic processes is conserved in the form of energy-rich compounds (e.g., adenosine triphosphate [ATP]).
