the resistors which are connected in series have many disadvantages
one of them is if any one electrical appliance is damaged then the whole connection would be failed.
so, many of our home appliances are combined with parallel combination of resistors
in the series combination of resistors in which current is same and potential difference is different where as in parallel combination current is different and potential difference will be the same
hope this helps you!

In series combination resistances are connected to one after the other to make a series ( see the image for better understanding).

Disadvantages of Series Combination
1. Same current flow through out the circuit due to which high rated appliances can not draw sufficient amount of current.
2. If one resistance or device is switched off all other devices after that stop working as circuit breaks.
3. Devices cannot be operated independently.
4. Total Resistance is more than maximum resistance in circuit so power loss is more as compared to parallel combination.
