Answer:

Whenever a solid plate is dipped in a liquid ,the surface of liquid near the region of contact becomes spherical.

In certain cases it is curved upward while in some others it is downward.

Let a tangent PX be drawn at the point of contact. Angle 'q' which PX makes with the portion of solid dipping in the liquid is called angle of contact.

Angle of contact, for a pair of solid and liquid, is defied as the angle between tangent to the liquid surface drawn at the point of contact and the solid surface inside the liquid.

Answer:

Contact angle is measured as the angle where a liquid or a vapor (but most often a liquid) interacts with a solid surface. ... Contact angle analysis is used to measure the quality of a solid surface. Surface tension analysis is used to measure the quality of a liquid.
