The animal organs are made four types of animal tissues-

  1. Epithelial tissue-covers body surface and lines the body cavities,and internal organs.
  2. Connective tissue-acts as packaging tissue and bind tissues.
  3. Muscular tissue-helps in movement of the body.
  4. Nervous tissue-receive and transmits impulses from one place to another.

Animal tissue:

Tissue is a group of cells, which are having similar structure, origin and performs a specific or similar function.

  • It was first evolved in coelenterates or cnidarians.
  • First "tissue" term was given by Bi-chats.
  • Study of tissue is known as histology which was given by Mayer.

Types of animal tissue :

★ Epethelial tissue:

  • Made up of three germ layers.
  • Can be of two types - Simple, compound
  • Types - Squamous, cuboidal, cubical, columnar, ciliated, pseudostratified, myo Epethelial, glandular epethelial.

★ Connective tissue:

  • Made up of endoderm.
  • Types - Loose, Areolar, Adipose, Dense, Regular, tendon, ligament, irregular, specialised, blood, lymph, bone, cartilage.

★ Muscular tissue:

  • Made up of mesoderm.
  • Can be of three types - Skeletal, smooth, cardiac

★ Nervous tissue:

  • Made up of ectoderm.
  • Consists two type of cells, - Neuron and neuro glial cells.
