it is one of the measures of Central tendency which a can be defined as a sum of observation of a number of observation .

MERITS

1. as every item is taken by calculation so every it is affected by every item .

2. as mathematical formula remains rigid therefore the result remains the same .

3. it can be easily calculated and it can be easily understood .

DEMIRITS

1. it cannot be located graphically .

2. single item can bring a big change in the result.

3. its value will be effective only when if frequency is distributed equally
