An atmosphere is more likely to be retained if the gravity it is subject to is high and the temperature of the atmosphere is low.

These gases are of utmost importance to living beings as oxygen is utilised for respiration, carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, and nitrogen fixation takes place for the requirement of plants.

The atmosphere is composed of five important layers such as troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere and the exosphere( outer space).
