Explanation:

Given An alternating e.m.f. E = 300 sin (100πt) volt is applied to a pure resistance of 100 ohm. Calculate r.m.s current through the circuit.

  • So the equation of e.m.f is E = 300 sin (100 πt)
  • Now peak emf is 300 volts
  • So rms will be Vrms = Vo / √2
  •                                  = 300 / √2
  •                                    = 212.16 volts
  • Now the resistance is given as R = 100 ohms
  •                        Now I = V/R
  • Therefore the rms current  Irms = Vrms / R
  •                                                   = 212.16 / 100
  •                                                    = 2.1216 A
