average: (mean — their are other types of averages): Sum the speeds and divide by the number of terms. (Do you take speed only to be positive, or do you let speed be negative too?)
most probable: Plot the speed over time. Choose an interval (? what criterion), and determine the “speed” during that interval. List the speeds from fastest to slowest and plot the number of times each speed exists. The highest is the most probable. (There are probably better ways of doing this.)

To get average speed you need to use the distance, speed and time equation
= Distance÷ Speed × time
Average speed is calculated by dividing total distance by the amount of time.
Probable speed the highest part of the curve in this graph (an example) It is called this because a large number of molecules have this speed.
